New finds…..

Hello Friends!

Today I am sharing a couple

of new finds in the little quirky hall

between the kitchen and

downstairs bath.

A few weeks ago Decor Steals had these

French bottle drying racks as the Today’s Steal.

So charming I just couldn’t resist

and had to have one!

-------

-------

Originally I intended to use it in the dining room

on the French Baker’s table but

after trying it 101 different ways I decided it

just wasn’t working in there.

So, it found it’s way into the kitchen in the window

of the quirky little hallway.

Here you can barely see the bottle drying rack

peeking out of the window.

I  found the antlers

above the chalk board while shopping for

something else on eBay.

I had Mr. Handyman mount them for me……

Changes to the French baker’s table………

 

I made a few changes to the French baker’s table

in the dining room the other day…..

so I thought I would

Meet Fred…….

While out and about a couple of weeks ago we

found this really

cool sign at an antique mall.

I knew right away it would fit perfectly on

the wall underneath the mounted deer head in the den.

We think it originally hung in a lodge.

I now refer to Mr. Deer as Fred……

Sorry I don’t have better pics, my camera is still broken…….

Today is the official first day of spring!

It feels like it has been winter for forever!

New sconces…….

 

I found these great little

sconces on eBay and they came in the

mail the other day.

Of course they didn’t look like this….. originally they were stained wood.

As usual I forgot about

taking a before pic until I had already started the project!

I loved the shape and style but the

wood color just wasn’t quite what I had in mind.

So, out came the paint!

-------

-------

Three different colors of paint

  and a little sanding and this is the end result!

-------

-------

Currently they are hanging beside the trumeau mirror in

the dining room but I’m not sure if that

is where they will stay?!?!?!

After I took these pictures my camera died!

There is something wrong

with the shutter so off to the shop it must go!

Spring is almost here!

A little inspiration to start your weekend off right…….

Isn’t that ironstone platter with ruffled edge simply divine?

The whole seating area is simply drool worthy!!!!!!

An accidental collection…..

 

It all starts off innocently enough…..you pick up an

item that intrigues you.

Then the next thing you know you have two

or three…..and sometimes more!

This is the case with my collection of fedora hats.

I’m not even sure when I started collecting them actually?

However I keep picking

them up here and there……and they look nice

stacked in the niche above the front door.

The collection was slightly bigger until recently when

three were damaged beyond repair.

The front door was actually

a window on the side of the building originally.

When the house was turned into a private residence part of

the window was removed and a door was added which

is why there is a niche above the door.

-------

A new little transferware treasure….

 

I recently picked up this little transferware

creamer from the 1840’s……

It is the perfect size for a small bouquet of flowers

and looks so cute

perched on top of this stack of books.

I love the slight crazing…….so beautiful!

I prefer pieces with imperfections

 which of course is also easier on the pocket book.

I saw this on Pinterest and thought it was so cute I just

had to share it with all of you!

The best part is, you probably already have

everything you need right on hand!

Just because…….

 

Isn’t this just the sweetest picture?

My boys used to wait patiently

for my husband by the door every day…….

now that they are senior citizens they wait on the sofa.

Of course this means napping all afternoon just to save up enough

energy so they can greet him when he does get home.

Oddities…….

It’s no secret that I am sometimes drawn to unusual or odds things.

Oddities as I like to call them…….

My husband no longer asks what I am going to do

with the oddities I find.

My latest is an antique carving set with bone handles.

I paired it with

my silver meat dome for now…….

I was completely smitten with the handles which are

smooth from many years of use.

I found the set at an antique store for $15.

I thought that was a pretty good deal but really I love them so

much it doesn’t matter?!?!?!
